Here at wellio, we often talk about our brilliant culinary advisor and so I thought it was time to put a face to the name. We sat down together, we chatted, and I asked a few questions so you can get to know her. So without further ado, I’d like to introduce Araminta:

Okay, let’s get started…
What did you do before wellio?

I studied culinary arts and nutrition at Johnson & Wales university before launching a successful private chef and catering business in Denver for eight years. From there I spent two years in Europe completing a Masters in Food Design & Innovations as well as various culinary internships.

You’re being modest! You’ve also done some amazing partnerships like creating edible fabrics for New York Fashion week, and developing recipes for brands like SoDelicious…let’s leave it at that or we’ll be here all day 🙂
So what brought you to wellio?

I wanted to take a break from the hot kitchen and apply my food knowledge to help people cook and eat more often and easily at home. This is so important, especially in the age of takeout and pre-made meals. Cooking for ourselves and others is a gratifying and beneficial practice.

I couldn’t agree more! Okay, the next question is a tough one…
Favorite food to eat?

Fresh seafood! No, definitely Colorado green chili! Wait no…Korean. But what about dumplings?! Don’t make me choose.

Sorry had to and one more…
Favorite dish to cook?

Salmon, citrus, and slow cooking. These are three of my favorites things. This recipe for Slow-Roasted Salmon with Fennel, Citrus, and Chiles from Bon Appetit is so simple, delicious, and beautiful. I made it for the wellio holiday party and it was gone in seconds. Ask me this tomorrow and it may be something totally different.

What do you love most about being wellio’s culinary advisor?

Working with a dynamic team to help people live healthy, happy lives.

Ditto! Alright let’s get down to the nitty gritty…
You’re also the primary customer service representative and face behind wellio. How does this fit with your culinary background?

Wellio’s machine learning technology is beyond impressive, but at the end of the day, human interaction and culinary expertise is what sets us apart. I help refine collected recipes to provide a high quality product, as well as offer on-demand cooking support to our customers. I also interact with our shoppers with a chef mentality to make sure recipe ingredients and substitutions meet our gold standard.

Yes, yes, yes and we couldn’t do it without you!
